Unbacked Vinyl Film

Unbacked vinyl film is how most vinyl wallcovering begins before it is printed on, embossed and a backing is applied.

Paper Backing

Paper backings are made from pulp and are used mostly on vinyl and vinyl coated papers. These backings are used mostly for residential and specialty wallcoverings.

Scrim Backing

Scrim backing is a lighted weight, more open weave fabric backing used for light traffic areas. It is usually made from a blend of polyester and cotton.

Osnaburg Backing

Osnaburg is a medium weight woven backing usually made from a blend of polyester and cotton, used for most Type II wallcoverings.

Drill Backing

Drill backing is a heavy-duty, tightly woven fabric backing used for high-traffic areas. This backing increases the tear and tensile strength.

Non-woven Backing

Non-woven wallcovering substrates are produced on a paper machine from a mixture of long fiber cellulose pulps and textile fibers combined with binders. Non-woven backing is used for any Type II wallcoverings which require matching a design, or registration or a print, since it is dimensionally stable, and will not stretch during manufacturing, or when wet.
